Families play a vital role in supporting student success and building a strong school community. Whether you’re helping in the classroom, joining a parent organization, or chaperoning a field trip, your time and involvement make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.

Research shows students do better when families are involved at home and at school. That’s why Buri Buri values family and community participation—volunteers are always welcome! You can support our school by joining the PTA, serving as a classroom parent, or chaperoning field trips.

Classroom Parents

English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC)

ELAC advises the principal, School Site Council (SSC), and school staff on programs and services for English Language Learner (ELL) students. Members help develop the ELL section of the school’s School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), distribute and tabulate needs assessments, and inform parents of the annual statewide language census. ELAC members are often parents of ELL students.

The SSC develops and approves the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) and the school site budget across seven areas:

Decisions are informed by student data to support school improvement and resource allocation for student achievement.

School Volunteers

Volunteers are an essential part of our school community. To get started:

Fill out a School Volunteer Application – English or School Volunteer Application – Spanish.
Submit it to the school office with:
- A current tuberculosis (TB) test dated within 60 days
- A valid driver’s license

The school office will submit your packet for a fingerprinting appointment at the SSFUSD district office. Applications will not be processed without fingerprinting. Please allow at least two weeks for processing, then call the school office for an update.

Chaperoning Field Trips
Parents who wish to chaperone field trips must be fingerprinted and have a negative TB test on file.
